Reviewed manufacturer references
Limited, dated product references from official brand pages. Includes Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial Rosé; no barcode or bottle verification.
Not all Nigerian products have accessible records. Packs with a SafeNaija Verified QR are checked against the manufacturer’s serial record. Other manufacturers’ scratch-code services are not connected. No source match proves this specific pack is genuine.

Know what’s verified, what’s observed and what’s still unknown.
The score measures how much information you supplied. It is not the chance that a product is genuine.

Missing information stays unknown. A seller type or valid barcode never earns an authenticity verdict.
Stop & verify: a passed expiry date, broken seal or suspicious label overrides other observations.
Extra checks needed: unusually low price is a warning signal. It is not proof of a fake.
Unverified: no warning was reported, but pack-level authenticity has not been confirmed.
Camera scanning, on-device label text reading and public-source checks run in this app. Greenbook medicine records, NAFDAC notices, Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, Open Products Facts and FDA enforcement references are queried where applicable. Products carrying a SafeNaija Verified QR are checked against the manufacturer’s own record: product, GTIN, NAFDAC number, batch, serial and supply chain. Recalls and confirmed counterfeit alerts are shown with every check. Manufacturer MAS scratch codes from other providers are not connected. No chemical test is performed, and the optional Pro AI packaging comparison is guidance only.
Only the named sources are checked. Medicine registration responses are cached for up to 30 minutes, catalogue responses for up to 1 hour, notices for up to 5 minutes, and US enforcement references for up to 30 minutes. Source timestamps and cached status appear in every result. No match, timeout or outage stays unknown.
Open Food Facts data is community-contributed and reused under ODbL / Database Contents License. FDA records concern the US market and may be historical; they are not current Nigerian recall alerts. Greenbook covers medical product registration, not every Nigerian food or beverage.
Photos cannot detect chemicals, contamination, medicine strength or alcohol adulteration. Don’t taste a suspect product to test it. Ask the manufacturer, a pharmacist or NAFDAC to investigate.
Photos and check history stay on your device unless you use Pro sync or the AI packaging comparison. Product identifiers and names are sent through our source gateway to the relevant public providers. SafeNaija records each check with the product codes, result and your approximate state (from your connection, not GPS) so manufacturers can spot counterfeits and recalls. It isn’t linked to you unless you’re signed in to Pro. Public lookup responses are cached temporarily. No receipt, photo or personal health details are sent. Shared-device users should clear history when finished.

Camera access needs permission. If scanning fails, photograph the label or enter the code manually. This is an installable web app; app-store versions are a separate release.
